Head Technician, Technical Services

The Head Technician leads the Technical Operations department at the Golden Skybridge Adventure Park and is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of all technical attractions. This includes oversight of the mountain coaster, ziplines, climbing wall, and other adventure-based infrastructure.
This is a fixed-term contract starting immediately and continuing through December 31st, with the potential of extension (by mutual agreement). There will be a probationary period of at least 90 days. The Head Technician position typically includes work during weekend, early morning and evenings, task dependant.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the Technical Operations team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance oversight
- Oversee all technical maintenance programs for:
- Mountain Coaster
- Ziplines and challenge-based attractions
- Climbing wall
- Other mechanical and technical systems across the site
- Ensure all preventative maintenance schedules are followed and documented
- Diagnose complex technical issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
- Perform and oversee inspections in accordance with manufacturer requirements and applicable standards (e.g., ACCT, CSA, ANSI, NFPA)
- Ensure all technical systems operate safely and reliably for guests and staff
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts usage, and work orders
- Manage tools, spare parts, and technical inventory
- Identify risks and communicate safety or operational concerns to the Operations Manager
- Lead and support training, mentorship, and competency development of Technical Operations staff
- Liaise with external inspectors, manufacturers, and service providers as required
- Support seasonal commissioning and decommissioning of attractions
- Continuously seek improvements to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and streamline maintenance processes
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, Technical Safety BC, and company Health & Safety policies
- Act as the senior technical point of contact for the Operations department
- Other duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive technical maintenance experience in adventure attractions, mechanical systems, or similar environments
- Strong leadership experience managing a small technical team
- In-depth understanding of zipline, challenge course, and/or gravity-powered ride systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work at heights and in mountainous terrain
- Excellent attention to detail and safety-focused mindset
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills
Considered an asset
- Red Seal or equivalent Millwright/HD Mechanic certification
- ACCT Level 1 or higher certification
- IRATA or SPRAT certification
- Experience with alpine coaster maintenance
- Experience with CMMS systems
- Petzl PPE Inspector certification
- Electrical or mechanical trade background
- First Aid certification
The starting wage for this role is the equivalent of $34.00/hour
