About the Golden Cycling Club
The Golden Cycling Club (GCC) is a non-profit organization that manages and maintains over 165 km of trails across four major networks — Mount 7, Moonrakers, CBT Mainline, and Mountain Shadows. Working closely with Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC), private landowners, and community partners, the GCC is committed to providing safe, sustainable, and inclusive recreation opportunities for all trail users.
Our paid Trail Crew plays a key role in delivering on this mission — maintaining our existing trail network, developing new projects, and ensuring our partnership obligations are met. For 2025, we are hiring two full-time Trail Leadership positions to help us continue raising the bar for trail quality and community stewardship in Golden.
Trail Building Lead
Seasonal Full-Time (April/May – October 2026, weather dependent)
Overview:
The Trail Building Lead is responsible for planning and delivering new trail builds, reroutes, and network improvement projects. This position requires both technical trail-building experience and the ability to assist in project planning, mapping, and reporting. The Build Lead will help develop concepts for future builds, prepare documentation for approvals, and ensure high-quality implementation on the ground.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead construction and reroute projects following sustainable trail-building standards.
- Identify new projects and assist in developing design concepts, budgets, and materials lists.
- Work collaboratively with GCC leadership on funding applications and Section 57 documentation.
- Prepare digital linework, maps, and reports using basic GIS or mapping tools.
- Supervise staff and volunteers during build operations.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Lead to manage resources and scheduling.
- Ensure environmental and safety compliance during all work.
- Document project progress through photos, maps, and reports.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in trail construction, project management, or similar work.
- Proficiency with digital mapping and documentation tools (Avenza, Trailforks, Google Earth, etc.).
- Knowledge of Section 57 application process and RSTBC standards.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Valid BC Driver’s License.
- Advanced First Aid Certification.
- Chainsaw certification (considered an asset).
- Advanced mountain biking ability (considered an asset).
- Passion for sustainable recreation and community trail development.
