HEAD COACH – SUMMER 2026

The Golden Dolphins Swim Club is a vibrant BCSSA member club based in Golden, BC, nestled among six National Parks and known for its exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities—from mountain biking and hiking to world-class scenic experiences. Golden offers an unparalleled setting for coaches who value nature, community, and an active lifestyle.

As part of the Okanagan Region of the BCSSA, our club is deeply committed to summer swimming and fosters an environment where athletes develop technical skill, confidence, and a lifelong love for the sport. Our swimmers have earned regional and provincial medals, and several currently hold BCSSA records—a reflection of our competitive yet inclusive approach.

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to serve as Head Coach for the 2026 summer season. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a BCSSA club, mentor young athletes, and guide a diverse group of swimmers—from early learners to competitive athletes. As Head Coach, you will play a central role in shaping the athlete experience, supporting their growth, and ensuring swimming remains both challenging and enjoyable for all.

Season Dates: ~April 27, 2026 – August 22, 2026

This position requires full availability for all practices and swim meets throughout the season.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership: 

  • Develop and deliver an engaging, progressive swim program for athletes aged 5–18, balancing technical instruction with competitive preparation.

Mentorship & Team Leadership:

  • Serve as a positive role model for Division 1–8 swimmers.
  • Mentor and oversee the Assistant Coach, as well as senior and junior coaches.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Board to ensure effective performance and development of all coaching staff.

Athlete Monitoring:

  • Track attendance, performance, and progression, and support swimmers in setting and achieving personal goals.

Communication:

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with athletes, families, and club leadership.
  • •Prepare media updates and manage basic social media communications as required.

 

 

Meet & Event Preparation:

  • Prepare athletes for competitions, manage meet entries using Hy-Tek/Active Network systems, and support swimmers throughout all meets.

Club Culture:

  • Foster a team environment grounded in fun, respect, skill development, and healthy competition.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum NCCP Swimming 101 (or equivalent)
  • Completion of annual Safe Sport training
  • Previous coaching experience in a competitive environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Hy-Tek or Active Network systems
  • Criminal record check (to be completed prior to employment)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation

Preferred:

  • NCCP Swimming 201
  • Competitive swimming experience

Working Environment

  • This role is based at a 6-lane outdoor pool, requiring comfort working in varying weather conditions.
  • The position involves physical activity and extended periods on deck.

Compensation & Benefits

Season Contract: April 27 – August 22, 2026

Salary: $19,000–$24,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
