About the position

As our company continues to grow, we need to recruit an Apprentice Timberframer.

The purpose of this role is to work with and learn from an experienced Timberframer in a big variety of tasks and to prepare, sort and handle material for the DLT press. When required, you will travel to the client jobsite to assist with installation.

 

Location

This full-time position is based at our shop near Golden, BC. Travel is required in BC and Alberta to client job sites for onsite installation assistance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn accurate interpretation of shop drawings
  • Learn material selection, layout, cutting, sanding, joinery, finishing, staining, assembly and packaging of wood/materials
  • Preparation and handling of material for the DLT press
  • Learn sharpening of hand tools and improve skills working with hand tools like chisels and saws
  • Learn window, door, insulation, siding, roofing and flashing installation
  • Loading wood/materials/tools for transportation
  • Assist with installation under direction of appointed Project leader - need to be physically strong to move heavy timbers and willing to work high on ladders and scaffolding
  • Clean up of shop and job sites at the end of the day and week
  • Learn shop, tool and machine maintenance
  • Ability to work alone on assigned tasks and together as part of a cohesive team

     

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional standards of work.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladders and scaffolding).
  • Class 5 driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
  • Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or valid Work Permit for a minimum of 1 year.

Compensation

$18.00-$24.00/per hour
